Our Story
From the Source. To Your Kitchen. Freshly Ground.
At FreshGround, we believe a spice should taste like the land it came from — not like the lowest-price procurement policy it had to survive to reach your kitchen. So we go back to the source, every single time.
We Go to the Source
Most spices travel through layers of middlemen before they reach you. By the time they do, the essential oils that carry flavour and aroma have already faded. We cut that chain short.
Every spice we carry is single-origin — sourced directly from the specific region in India where that variety grows best:
- Kashmiri Chilli — deluxe Dabbi variety grown in the fertile fields of North Karnataka, prized for its deep red colour and mild, fruity heat.
- Byadgi Chilli — GI-tagged from Karnataka, one of India's most celebrated chillies, known for its wrinkled skin, rich colour, and low pungency.
- Guntur Chilli — the Teja (S17) variety, topmost grade of Guntur Chilli, sourced from the Tungabhadra River Basin in Kurnool District, Andhra Pradesh. Fiery and pungent with an orangish-red colour and a tangy, sharp flavour. IPM-certified and residue-free.
- Salem Turmeric — from the turmeric heartland of Tamil Nadu, with a naturally high curcumin content and a warm, earthy depth.
- Alleppey Turmeric — sourced from the fertile lands of Kerala, with an exceptionally high curcumin content of 5%–6.5%, a deep golden-yellow colour, and a distinctive earthy flavour with notes of lemon and mint. IPM certified and residue-free.
- Rajasthani Jeera — premium-grade cumin sourced directly from select farms in Rajasthan, single-origin and residue-free, with an earthy, warm, and distinctly aromatic profile — nutty and slightly peppery with a gentle bitterness.
- Wayanad Black Pepper — Malabar Gold Grade peppercorns sourced directly from the plantations of Wayanad, Kerala. Naturally grown, ground in ultra-small batches, with a strong, spicy, and deeply aromatic character.
We know the farms. We know the harvests. And we bring that traceability directly to your kitchen.
Our Patented Fresh-Grinding Process
Spices needs large machines to grind to edible grade fine-ness. This generates heat. Heat destroys volatile oils. Volatile oils are flavour.
That's the problem with most commercially ground spices — and it's exactly what our patented process solves. We can grind in ultra small batches using ultra small machines at low temperatures, preserving the essential oils, natural colour, and full aromatic profile that make each spice unique.
The result? Spices that taste and smell like they were just ground in your own kitchen — because in every way that matters, they were.
Only The Best. Nothing Hidden.
We are maniacal when it comes to procurement. Only the topmost harvest. No artificial colours or oleoresins. No fillers. What's on the label is exactly what's in the jar — pure, single-origin spice, freshly ground.
We hold ourselves to standards that go beyond regulatory minimums, because what we eat "makes" us and there cannot be any compromise with that.
Why We Started FreshGround
India grows some of the world's finest spices. Yet most Indian kitchens cook with spices that are the worst harvest India produces, in addition, the spice powder has lost potency long before it arrives in your Kitchen. We started FreshGround to close that gap — the best grade, freshly ground spice accessible to every home cook, not just those who grind their own.
Our mission is simple: bring the full flavour of India's best-growing regions to your table, with complete transparency about how we do it.
